The Worthy & Wild Woman Podcast

It’s your birthright to feel connected to your true self, to love yourself and to live the life you’ve always desired. Did you know you are the creator of your life? So many of us as women have forgotten our innate wisdom and internal power, because the world has told us to be quiet, to be polite, to make everyone else comfortable and that the most interesting thing about us is our external appearance. It’s no wonder so many women are feeling burnt out, exhausted, undervalued, like a shell of themselves and afraid to live authentically, take up space and speak our truth. This is the podcast where we reclaim our power. This is the community and space where we learn about connecting back to our unshakable self confidence, where we empower ourselves to live a life that is in full alignment, where we stop settling for the bare minimum or scraps, where we protect our sacred energy, set healthy boundaries, attract healthy and aligned relationships, and fully believe in ourselves. Dive into topics with Marisa around self love, self connection, building self confidence, spirituality, manifesting, connecting to the universe, attracting your dream life and desires, how to heal past wounds and let go of limiting beliefs, healing your body image and relationship with food, navigating life transitions and new chapters, how the Law of Attraction works and how to call in abundance. When women realize and reclaim their power, we are a force to be reckoned with. Self love is not radical, it is necessary. Are you ready to rediscover who you truly are?

Welcome back queens! I am really excited to dive into a wide array of topics in this episode. Everything from self discovery, shifting our perspective in life, taking action and doing that scary thing that will propel you in life.

I wanted to create an episode dedicated to my month in Tulum - everything from why I decided to travel alone, what I was able to learn and discover on this solo trip, and a few recommendations / things I really enjoyed while I was out there.

I also wanted to shed light on the fact that as a woman, you don't need to wait for ANYONE or ANYTHING to give you permission to do things in life. If you wanna travel, go do it. If you wanna wear the bikini, go do it. If you wanna go out for dinner, go do it! Don't wait for anyone, because the biggest lesson I've gained this year is that I can enjoy my own company and doing things on your own is so empowering. I gained a lot of personal growth and inner wisdom in the last few months and over this last year, and I wanted to share some of that with you.

I know sometimes it can often feel really scary to chase our dreams, or take that leap or do the thing, BUT LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO NOT DO WHAT TOTALLY FILLS YOUR SOUL WITH FIERCE LIGHT. Your dreams and true purpose are on the other side of fear, take the leap, the worst that can happen is that you grow and learn and take one step closer to becoming the woman you've always wanted to be, you can do hard things. Share this episode with your tribe so we can continue lifting up the women around us!

**DISCLAIMER** in this episode we briefly mention eating disorders and disorded food/body image thoughts. Before listening to the episode please be aware of this.

Unraveling all the deeply rooted and conditioned narratives we've been taught since we were young around our body's, around food, around how we value our worth. So many of us identify with our body's and we are often our own worst critics. But what if instead of being mean to yourself or constantly feeding yourself with negative self talk, you could be your own best friend? What if you could instead go forward in your day with a mindset of appreciation, of self respect, of knowing your worth OUTSIDE of what your body looks like?

EVERY woman deserves this.

In this episode we talk about specific actionable things you can do when a negative body image moment begins to happen, how you can take a step back and reflect on what's actually going on for you. How to shift your inner narrative to a more neutral one around your body, and how to actually TAKE BACK your POWER in your life so you can break free from diet culture and FINALLY be your own best friend.

***DISCLAIMER* in this episode we do talk about eating disorders, ED treatment and other disordered eating patterns/mindsets so please be aware of this before listening to the episode. xoxo***

This week I had the honour of having the absolutely inspiring and beautiful Marta join me to discuss some incredibly moving and important topics.

Marta is a self love coach and helps women heal from their traumas so that they can find self love, step into their power and create the life of their dreams. She has struggled with body dysmorphia, depression, OCD and anorexia - and through it all she was led to discover her purpose in life in helping other women also break free from these hardships and struggles.

In this episode we dive into everything from her experience in ED treatment, the methods she used slowly begin to rebuild her self respect and love for herself again, how she protects her energy now and how she healed her body image after her eating disorder. We also touch briefly on how emotions can be stored in the body and our chakras / energy.

There is so much to be said about SAVING OURSELVES. WE are the captain of our own ship, and WE get to decide if the life we're living is enough for us, and if it's not? WE have the power to rewrite the script and step into our power. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did, Marta is a truly healing individual and such a bright light. Do you base your worth off your ability to do MORE, be MORE, accomplish MORE? Hustle culture paints a narrative in our head that if we're not constantly go go go or chasing the next big mountain to conquer that we're lazy or have failed.

Don't get me wrong, having goals and having a solid worth ethic is important for a lot of things, BUT it does NOT determine your worth, you were not put on this earth to simply work yourself to the bone and constantly be doing. You are a human BEING, how often do you just allow yourself to BE, to feel the feels, to just exist sometimes?

Do you find it hard to be proud of yourself and recognize how far you've come? Cause same. I wanted to get real and raw with you guys about what I've been struggling with post 'month in Mexico' and I talk alllll about my recent thoughts about how hard on ourselves we are when our body is so strongly signalling to us that it needs a break or to slow down. It is OKAY to just exist for a bit, to slow down, to take time for yourself. It is absolutely freeing to let yourself FEEL the FEELS when you need to, otherwise the more you shove them down and suppress them, the deeper your wounds go.

Please be kind to yourself, I hope this is exactly what you need to hear today because I know I could've used it this past week. If you're in a funk right now, you're definitely not alone - in fact, embrace the stage you're in right now. Often times when we feel we've hit a road block, it's actually a gift that forces us to question the path we're on, learn more about ourselves and point us in the right direction. Life is happening FOR you, not TO you.

Welcome back you beautiful humans! I wanted to create an episode specifically for the things I wish I had known when I first started my health and fitness journey YEARS AGO.

I KNOW a lot of you will also be able to relate to these 4 things that I talk about, because out of the THOUSANDS of women I have had conversations with and connected with over the years, these are all super prevalent struggles we all seem to face or encounter at some point in time throughout our journey... which makes my heart break, BUT let me tell you WHY and HOW we can pivot from these negative or not so empowering mindsets, let's discover how we can amplify our journeys in a positive way that ADDS to our life.

My journey started around the age of 17, so for almost 10 years I have been in this health and fitness space and around a lot of the diet culture type mindsets after competing for years, going to expos, dieting for photoshoots etc - I have been through it ALL. The 4 things I wish I knew that I go into more depth about are:

1. How restricting causes MORE problems (bingeing, cravings, insane hunger, food guilt, food thoughts, a never ending yoyo cycle)
2. How excessive cardio is a waste of your time and energy, and it's probably doing more harm than good
3. To STOP searching for the instant 'quick fix results'
4. That is was NEVER about your body (happiness does not come from changing your body)

I hope you enjoy this episode, and if you can relate to any of these areas, feel free to follow the podcast so you don't miss part 2, and message me on instagram (marisahopeee) as I'd love to hear your thoughts or experiences with your struggles through diet culture, we empower ourselves and spread the message by SHARING our story. Stay Nourished Queens!

This Episode is about to change your life, myself and Kyla (@thesacred_essentials) dive into EVERYTHING from what breathwork has given her, how she dug herself out of diet culture, what inner healing can open your eyes to and how we as women can find our voice and discover that we have everything within us.

I first discovered breathwork not long ago (maybe 6 ish weeks ago, I am a newbie!), and during my first session I was able to release so many suppressed emotions and realized I am not alone in my struggles, feelings and hardships. We are ALL going through something, and when you can find a safe space to open up to all that you're dealing with, it truly is a huge step in progressing through your healing journey. This safe space is something that Kyla offers, and it is magical! I am so thankful that I found her.

We have conversations around what a breathwork ceremony can look and feel like, how you can heal through breathwork and what it means to heal from the inside out. This conversation is definitely going to change your life, I know that discovering this new form of inner work has changed me for the better. When we can ask ourselves what we are learning from the hardships in our lives - we can begin to find peace, grow and evolve in ways that shape us into the people we were always meant to become.

Enjoy my friends - and as always, if you enjoyed this episode, please give the podcast a follow and a like - I am so thankful that you are here with us!

Health does NOT have a size... Just because someone is in a smaller body, does not mean they are happier, healthier or living a better life, we know this first hand. As women, we actually THRIVE with more body fat and with an abundance of nourishment, rest and enough FOOD. Fat is often times protective to the body, healing is a process and we need to remind ourselves our bodies are on our side.

Summer (@healwithsummer) and I dive into a lot of nutrition and fitness industry myths and how we as women need to realize that shrinking ourselves and being the most restrictive possible is only leading to MORE health issues. Summer is a Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutritionist and focuses on getting to the root cause of gut, hormone and metabolic health.

There is real importance in getting to the ROOT cause of chronic illnesses or imbalances in the body, instead of just suppressing symptoms with restricting, cutting out food groups or popping prescriptions. Ever dealt with frustrating symptoms like bloating and immediately turned to restricting or cutting out sugar? We talk about what role this plays on our body and health, and it's not a positive one. Sugar is NECESSARY. In order to heal, we need to be providing our bodies with adequate nourishment and resources to function optimally, a mindset of ABUNDANCE is key and we talk about how you can shift these mindsets to support your health and lifestyle.

When it comes to food and food marketing, there is so much more to your nourishment than just looking at a nutrition label for the macros alone - if you've ever looked at the ingredient list on a birthday cake protein bar for example, you'd realize that list is full of additives and not so great ingredients for you, these fitness companies don't have your health in mind. They just want to sell you that hot and trendy high protein bar, but what is this doing to your health in the long wrong? Nutrient density, vitamins and minerals are what matter when we talk about what the MAJORITY of your nourishment should look like.

What foods to be mindful of when it comes to gut health, digestion and bloating, absorbing nutrients etc.

What chronic stress can cause in the body, and if we don't learn when to listen to our bodies and rest, we can be doing a lot of harm in the long run.

Let's get nourished together!!!

How many of you have struggled with gut issues? I think it's safe to say most of us, on some level, want to better our gut health, relieve uncomfortable bloating, and learn about what foods are going to promote healthy digestion. The gut health topic is a big buzz word these days, so I wanted to bring Madisen, aka the Gut Goddess, @the.gut.goddess on to chat about a lot of the myths in the gut health space, and provide you with some quality truths when it comes to healing the gut. I bet a lot of the things we unpack will surprise you!

When it comes to gut health, we've often been told to restrict, cut out foods or spend a ton of money on pills and supplements to relieve certain symptoms, and yet we often end up digging an even deeper hole. What if instead of just eliminating things from our lives, we got to the root cause of what actually might be causing the gut distress in the first place?

In this episode we talk a lot about getting back to the basics of nourishment and digestion, how to promote healing in the body, relieving stress and how you can work towards a happier gut.

Diving into everything body image, body neutrality & acceptance, and freeing yourself from diet culture with Anna Marquardt @annamarq_ - Anna and I connected over instagram, and it's no wonder, we both share the same passion in sharing the important message to find kindness towards yourself, end the restricting and negativity towards your own body, and shed light on disorded eating patterns. She is an exercise physiologist, personal trainer, group fitness instructor and helps people ditch diet culture and find balance with their fitness, body image and mental health.

We unpack a lot of healing work that goes into discovering body acceptance and the struggles she personally faced along the way. The journey is never linear, but having helpful and positive tools in your back pocket when a negative body image day does arise, helps you continue to do the empowering work. Stick around until the end of the episode to hear tips on adopting a more neutral outlook towards your body and how to overcome a negative body image day.
